The Chilterns Three Peaks

The Chilterns Three Peaks is a stunning circular route visiting some of the highest hills in the Chiltern Hills. The walk takes in the wooded Haddington Hill, Beacon Hill and Coombe Hill. It is a walk of spectacular variety through ancient natural box forests, quintessential quiet villages and far reaching views across Aylesbury Vale. There are several variations of the Chilterns Three Peaks route with the longest, a linear route from north to south taking in Ivinghoe Beacon, Coombe Hill and Whitleleaf Hill.

The Route

Starting in the historic market town of Wendover and straight into a steep climb up to Haddington Hill, at 267m this is the highest hill in the Chiltern Hills. The route then winds through the earthworks of an old fort before heading into dense but peaceful woodland. A traverse around Chequers, the countryside resident of the Prime Minister before two climbs up Beacon and Coombe hills. The views just keep on getting better as the day goes on. You can see the route here.

  • Such a great experience walking in the Chilterns yesterday. Fred's a great host and guide and he made sure the group were happy throughout the walk. It's a beautiful hike with an ever-changing landscape and some of the best views I've ever seen in the UK. I'd highly recommend this, it's suitable for all abilities and an amazing day out.

  • I had an amazing time on the Chilterns three peak Hike a few days ago, as a beginner to hiking it was the perfect amount of challenging. It felt like an amazing accomplishment, but I could still walk fine the next day! Fred was a wonderful guide and I thoroughly enjoyed all the interesting facts, information and history he told us about the area and landscape as we walked. The views were outstanding, and I particularly enjoyed the addition of forest bathing.
